第34回吹奏楽部定期演奏会が弘前市民会館で行われました。多くの方が来て下さいました。中学生から高校生まで計26名で頑張りました。高校三年生にとっては最後の舞台。演奏会後は出入り口に並び、来て下さった方々にお礼を言っていました。
Today was the 34th annual wind ensemble concert at the Hirosaki Civic Center. Twenty-six students from Seiai junior and senior highs participated. This will be the last performance for graduating third grade high schoolers. After the performance, students lined up at the exit and thanked audience members for coming. Attendance was high.

今日は献金日でした。アジアキリスト教教育基金（ACEF）に献げられました。バングラディッシュの学校がない地域の子どもたちのために、寺子屋幼稚園、寺子屋小学校の開設・運営支援をしている団体です。生徒は自分たちが学べることに感謝しつつ祈りを持ってささげてくれたと思います。
Today was the monthly offering. The proceeds from this months offering will go to the Asian Christian Education Fund (ACEF). The fund supports private schools in places like Bangladesh that do not offer public education for local children. Hopefully, students learned not only to give to those less fortunate, but also to appreciate what they have.

スポーツ大会が行われました。種目はバレーボールやドッチボール、フットサルや卓球など。高校はクラス対抗です。高校３年生は最後のスポーツ大会と真剣勝負そのもの、さすがに応援もまとまっていました。中学はクラスが少ないので学年対抗。違うクラスの人たちと合同チームを結成し臨みました。バスケットボールで上級生を押しのけゴールに進む下級生の姿が印象的でした。朝早く来てフットサルの練習をした生徒もいたのですが、残念ながら雨で種目変更となってしまいました。
Today was "sports day". Students from each homeroom made teams and played off against other homerooms. Sports played included dodge ball, volleyball, soccer, ping pong, etc. Pictured here, students are playing volleyball. This will be the last sports day for graduating third grade high schoolers. Because of the rain, some outdoor events were rained out - other indoor events were substituted in their place.

中学３年の人権学習の日です。今回は青森空襲について学ぶことになり青森市まで出かけました。青森空襲を記録する会にいろいろお世話をしていただきました。フィールドワークでは青函連絡船八甲田丸の前にある“青函連絡船戦災の碑”を見学しました。青森と函館の船と港の施設は空襲で壊滅状態になりました。ただし写真に見える八甲田丸は1964年に青函連絡船として最後に作られた船です。戦後復活した連絡船が青函トンネルの完成に伴い廃止されたことを記念して展示されているもので空襲とは直接関係がありません。この後中央市民センターに移動して空襲を体験された方からお話をうかがいました。
Today students visited Aomori City for a civics field trip. They visited the monument for the air raid near the port. After visiting the monument students had a chance to hear from eyewitnesses about the raids at the Aomori Civic Center and visit a special exhibit center there that focuses on the air raid.

中学高校とも始業式でした。中学校では２校時から実力テストが行われました。
Today during first period was the opening ceremony for both junior and senior highs. After that senior high students had a uniform check, but junior high students left early because they had a special test today starting second period.

高校特別進学コース1年生2年生の学習合宿がホテル鹿角で行われています。最初は数学、英語の講義です。生徒は皆真剣に取り組んでいます。
Today first and second grade high school college prep track students are having a special "study camp" at a local hotel. Their first lesson today was math, followed by an English lecture. They're tackling the extra work vigorously.

特進コースだけでなく一般コースでも希望者を対象に補習が行われています。大学受験に備え、今から課題に取り組んでいます。今日で夏休み前半はおしまい。写真は高校１年の英語の風景です。
Students are still taking extra lessons even now during the second half of summer vacation. Pictured here is a typical first grade high school English lesson.

中学バドミントン部は８月８日（金）から黒石スポカルインで行われる東北大会に出場します。団体戦とシングルス（１名）に出場します。大会を前に、今日も高校生と共に練習をしていました。
Today the junior high team is practicing together with the high school team to get ready for their upcoming meet. The junior high badminton team will compete this Friday in Kuroishi, both in group and single events.

演劇部が高文連地区大会に出す作品の練習をしています。地区大会は９月１４、１５日に五所川原市のオルテンシアで行われ８校が出場予定。２校が県大会に進みます。
During summer vacation, the drama club is also practicing for their upcoming performance at the regional drama competition on September 14th and 15th in Goshogawara. Eight school drama clubs will be performing at this event. Two of the schools will be chosen to go on to the prefectural drama competition.

秋に行われる高総文に向けて高校の美術部員が作品を描いています。８月中には完成させる予定とのこと。美術部は現在中学高校あわせて１０数名で活動をしています。
In the fall the art club will hold an exhibition. To that end, this month the club is planning to finish up many of its works in progress. There are currently about 10 junior and senior high students in art club.

高校体操部がインターハイ出場のため埼玉に向けて出発しました。８月６日（水）の団体予選に出場します。
Today the gymnastics team left for the national "Inter-high" athletic tournament in Saitama prefecture. Their first competition will be Wednesday, August 6th. Please cheer them on!

吹奏楽部は今月末に行われる定期演奏会に向け練習しています。暑い音楽室で頑張っています。これから合宿も行い、マーチングも練習します。定期演奏会は８月３０日（土）１５時、場所は弘前市民会館です。
On Saturday, August 30th, the brass band will have a concert at the civic center. Even during the hot days of summer break, students are practicing for their upcoming concert. They are also practicing their marching routine.
